The MIDAS (Modis Dust AeroSol) satellite dataset provides mid-visible (550nm) columnar aerosol and dust optical depth on a daily basis, at a global scale and at fine spatial resolution (0.1 x 0.1 degrees). Relevant publications: Gkikas, A., Proestakis, E., Amiridis, V., Kazadzis, S., Di Tomaso, E., Tsekeri, A., Marinou, E., Hatzianastassiou, N., and Pérez García-Pando, C.: ModIs Dust AeroSol (MIDAS): a global fine-resolution dust optical depth data set, Atmos. The files include daily observations of total ozone (DU), AOT at 1020 nm, water column (at 936 nm) and solar irradiance at 305 nm, 312 nm, 320 nm, 936 nm and 1020 nm (W/m2). Observations were made with the spectrophotometer MICROTOPS II by the Climate Research Group, Section of Environmental Physics and Meteorology, Faculty of Physics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Validation of the data is needed for their proper use.
