Description

The file includes annual count of days of extreme temperature and precipitation using the indices Tropical Nights (TN): annual count of days when Tmin > 20 oC Tropical Days (TD): annual count of days when Tmax > 30 oC Summer Days (SD): annual count of days when Tmax > 25 oC Hot Days (TD): annual count of days when Tmax > 35 oC Frost Days (FD): annual count of days when Tmin 1mm Heavy Rainfall (R30): annual count of days with rainfall R > 30mm Very heavy Rainfall (R40): annual count of days with rainfall R > 40mm Extreme Rainfall (R50): annual count of days with rainfall R > 50mm The data are derived from the historical climatic station of the National Observatory of Athens (the oldest climatic station of Greece). The station has been permanently established at Thissio, on the small Hill of Nymphs (latitude: 37.972 N, longitude: 23.717 E, altitude: 107 m above MSL) near the centre of Athens since the late 19th century, without relocations over the years. The timeseries are uninterrupted.
